From Gears of War 4 to Tomb Raider: The best and worst of microtransactions

I don’t want to be that grumpy old gamer who chases the kids off his lawn and yells at them about how things were back in his day, but… well, brace yourselves. The cane and rocking chair are comin’ out.

Good piece but on the other hand?  This has been going on for years.  Should the “Mo’ Money” types be able to crank up their juice without earning the status?    To each his own, Mr. Tilley – to each his own.   These are the same idiots who think a Man Bun gives them style cred or a beard makes ’em a hipster.  Nah – posers all.

I am the old gamer but I won’t waste my gaming time being grumpy; I’m having too much fun playing.  Team with stand up gamers, Steve-O.  If you have gamed for a while, you know how to  pick off the fanboys and girls.

Game design is business; they aren’t in it for us – they are in it to make money.  Let them rake in cash from the boneheads who don’t quite get it; no skin off your nose.

Go on, have fun; craft/transmorph the cane into a Staff of Reckoning and your rocking chair to a Griffin.  You’ll be fine.
