This is a thank you to the person or persons who left this little guy in box, in Toronto somewhere, almost 3 years ago now. (Update: Over six years ago)
I don’t know why you left him there, maybe you couldn’t afford to keep him or maybe you couldn’t face having Ontario’s BSL murder him for being what he is, an American Standard mix. For whatever reason or reasons you had at that time? I thank you. Your decision brought this angel into our lives.
He found his way to a no-kill shelter in Montreal where he began the second leg of his journey to our home.
His name now, is Chico. Cheeks for short. He is loved. He is so very much loved. He gives us so much and asks for so little in return. He has a house to live in, a backyard to play in. We try to give him the best of everything because he deserves it. We look at those big brown eyes and realize how lucky we are to have Chico as part of our family. And he is. He is as much a part of this family as any of the human beings.
He is well socialized and has a best buddy, Tigger. Tigger belongs to my son and his girlfriend. He is also an American Standard, his colouring is brindle. Tigger will come to visit and the mayhem has to be seen to be believed. They hurtle themselves about the place; pure joy and happiness.
We do our best, every day to ensure that we learn as much as we can about his breed, what we should and should not be doing. We use what makes sense and toss out the rest. There is so much information; sometimes it is difficult to divide the “right” information from the “wrong.” We do our best.
Rest assured, that Chico is happy, healthy and has a forever home with two people who love him very, very much. There is a happy ending to his journey. For him and for us. So thank you for leaving him in that box. We’re sorry that you could not share your life with him but eternally grateful that he found his way into our home and our lives.
